Police probe morning home invasion, kidnapping

Police are sorting out the details this morning of an apparent home invasion and kidnapping that happened in Juniata Park.

A family told police that five armed men forced their way into their home on Lawndale Street near Luzerne about 6:30 a.m. this morning through a basement door, police spokeswoman Officer Tanya Little said. The men tied up and pistol-whipped a 57-year-old woman and kidnapped an 18-year-old, dropping him off some unspecified distance away a short time later, Little said. A 14-year-old in the home was unharmed. The woman was taken to Temple University Hospital for treatment.

The gunmen wore black clothing and ski masks, police said.

Look for updates as more details become available.
