A 21-year-veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department was arrested Monday on allegations of theft and receiving stolen property, police said.

Officer Kevin Workman, 47, allegedly stole an undisclosed amount of money and had been under investigation since the summer, police said.

Details were not immediately available on how much money Workman allegedly stole and from where.

Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey has suspended Workman for 30 days with intent to dismiss, said Tanya Little, a police spokeswoman.

Workman is the 35th police officer to be arrested since 2009. He was assigned to the 2nd Police District, which covers parts of Northeast Philadelphia.

I guess the message isn't getting through to crooked cops as well as the regular crooks out there. We see police arrested over, and over and over again. Shakedowns...theft...rapes, etc. At their shift meetings at the precinct...they should have a slide show, with convicted police, and a caption stating the crime, and what prison they reside in now. There is a culture of corruption....and the morality of maggots like this guy is such that they think being a cop is a right to be a thief. Longer punishments...and loss of all pensions. There should also be a public "Wall of Shame" at City Hall and the Police HQ....visible to all, of cops that convicts. Every trainee cop should visit this ...and be shown what happens when they go wrong. Their face is up there for good, on the "Wall of Shame".

Looks like he's had a few donuts too many. Do you need to be ugly or have a double chin to be a Philly cop these days?

21 years wasted. Hard to find 'a few good men". No wonder our society is rapidly declining. If police can't be role models for our youth, all hope is lost.

Another one bites the dust. A FEW bad apples?? How about a FEW good cops? The cops are going down the same road as School Police. Used to be a time when cops were on the take from drug dealers and the mob. They can't anymore. Dealers got more power. So cops need to steal to maintain their reputation.
