A 21-year-veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department was arrested Monday on allegations of theft and receiving stolen property, police said.

Officer Kevin Workman, 47, allegedly stole an undisclosed amount of money and had been under investigation since the summer, police said.

Details were not immediately available on how much money Workman allegedly stole and from where.

Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey has suspended Workman for 30 days with intent to dismiss, said Tanya Little, a police spokeswoman.

Workman is the 35th police officer to be arrested since 2009. He was assigned to the 2nd Police District, which covers parts of Northeast Philadelphia.
