A 13-year-old girl was walking home from school in Northeast Philadelphia's Castor section Wednesday afternoon when she was pulled into an alley and sexually assaulted by two teenagers, police said.

She was approached around 3:30 p.m. by two teen boys who pulled her into a rear alley behind homes on Fanshawe Street near Loretto Avenue and sexually assaulted her, Sgt. Robert Sutula of the Special Victims Unit said.

Sutula said the assault was interrupted by a homeowner who drove into the alley. Investigators were knocking on doors in the neighborhood to see if there were any other witnesses.

The attackers were described as two boys between 14 and 16 years old who wore sweatshirts and sweatpants, police said.

Investigators in the Special Victims Unit were still interviewing the victim around 6 p.m.
