A man died after being shot in his forehead and throat at an apartment complex on Lindbergh Boulevard near 84th Street Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Shots were fired around 5:30 p.m. and the victim was pronounced dead on the scene by medics. Police were unsure of the victim's age, but said he appeared to be in his mid 20s.

About 10 minutes later, a witness positively identified the shooter, a 44 -year- old man, on Island Avenue near Lindbergh Boulevard, said Chief Inspector Scott Small.  The man was carrying a semi-automatic handgun at the time. Two witnesses and the suspect were being taken to the Homicide Unit for interviews Wednesday evening, Small said.

Cops said the shooting may have stemmed from an argument over money. Police found a wallet and five shell casings on the scene. Police said the victim was carrying a semi-automatic handgun in his right pocket.

A parked car was also struck by stray bullets and its occupants were not injured police said. However, they were also taken to the Homicide Unit for interviews, police said.

Officials from the Southwest Detective Division and the Homicide Unit remained on the scene Wednesday evening.
