Police identify man slain in Fairhill

Police have identified a man shot to death on a Fairhill street in broad daylight Monday afternoon.

Police have identified a man shot to death on a Fairhill street in broad daylight Monday afternoon.

Bezuir Santiago, 25, of K Street near Hunting Park Avenue in Juniata Park, died on the sidewalk on 4th Street near Indiana Avenue shortly before 3 p.m. when someone shot him several times, police said.

Court records show a lengthy record for Santiago, who was arrested in 2011 on attempted murder, aggravated assault and gun charges and has several drug arrests. The attempted murder charge, according to court documents, was dropped due to lack of prosecution when a witness failed to appear in court.

Police said they have not yet determined a motive or made any arrests in Santiago's murder.

In the second homicide in less than 12 hours, a man was also shot to death near Kensington Avenue and Ontario Street shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday, according to police. A department spokeswoman said that man remained a John Doe Tuesday afternoon.
