Police arrest armed robbery suspect

A 20-year-old North Philadelphia man was arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a corner store in late July.

Wesley Clark, of 20th Street near Diamond, and a second suspect allegedly robbed the My City Super Market on Susquehanna Avenue near Uber around 7 a.m. on July 27. The store is about a block away from where Clark lives, police said.

Clark and another man pistol whipped the store’s employees and helped themselves to $300 from a cash register. The two also stole a 12-gauge shotgun from behind the counter, police said.

Clark faces 11 charges, including robbery and assault, according to court documents. The man is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 21.

Police are still searching for Clark’s unidentified accomplice, said Officer Jillian Russell, a police spokeswoman.

The store’s surveillance camera recorded the incident, and tipsters are asked to call 215-686-TIPS with information on the second suspect.
