This post has been updated.

Cops declared a barricade in South Philadelphia Sunday afternoon after they said a woman fired shots from an apartment balcony then hid inside the apartment.

Around 4:20 p.m., police were called to 12th and Shunk streets, where they say a woman was firing shots from the second-floor balcony. Cops said the woman fired two shots in the direction of police before going into the apartment and refusing to come out, prompting authorities to declare a barricade. No injuries to police were reported.

Shortly before 6 p.m., police entered the apartment and found the woman dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, a department spokeswoman said. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene at 6 p.m.

This article seems to leave a lot of information out. Why did this lady shoot at police? Who called the cops & why? I am asking these questions because this kind of stuff does not normally happen in this area of South Philly unless it is meant to!

OK i live 2 blocks from where this occured ! Now it's ok since this was just single nut case wanting out ! BUT i know theres going to be more from the dealers and users of drugs ! Getting fearful now in Philly it's not safe anywhere at any time YOU can be shot as innocent bystander ! The Info is just about al;l there is it was two women living in that place ! The shooter just went off the other ran out to call police on cell ! Then when cops came the shooter fired rounds at them and decided to off her self ! Streets were blocked for 2 hours ! Swat team , multiple police vans cars and even special forces home secuirty unit ! Dunno if any innocents got hit by stray bullets didnt see anyone carried away by ambulance or heard of any person getting shot so thats good ! SEE me on U tube MY user name is same there !

Why keep running this story without any other information? Who was this poor soul? I know there were two young women living in the apartment...with two beautiful dogs taht were well cared for. What caused such a tragedy to occur on a Sunday afternoon?
