Police: Separate shootings kill 2 within minutes
Two men were killed within 10 minutes tonight, in separate, violent incidents.
Perth Place near Spring Garden Street, North Philadelphia
In the first incident, a 22-year-old man was shot dead in North Philadelphia about 9 p.m., police said.
Officers responded to reports of a shooting and found the victim in the courtyard of the Spring Garden Apartments, Chief Inspector Scott Small said.
The man had been shot twice in the back and was pronounced dead at Hahnemann University Hospital at 9:16 p.m.
Evidence at the scene showed at least 15 shots had been fired from two guns, Small said.
There was no information available on a suspect or motive. Small said police are reviewing surveillance video from the area.
Amber Street near Ontario, Kensington
In the second incident, a 35-year-old man was found in a vacant house in Kensington with a gunshot wound to the chest about 9:09 tonight, police said.
Police took the victim to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:41 p.m.
A gun that may have been used in the shooting was recovered at the scene, police said. Also found at the scene was a small amount of a "weed-like substance," Small said, indicating a possible drug connection.
Cops were looking for the shooter last night.
