A car struck a mother and three children who were crossing Roosevelt Boulevard in Olney late Tuesday night, killing the mother and one child and leaving the other two in critical condition, police said.

A car struck a mother and four children who were crossing Roosevelt Boulevard in Olney late Tuesday night, killing the mother and one child and leaving the other two in critical condition, police said.

Details on the accident, which happened just before 10:30 p.m., were scant around 11 p.m. as police investigated, but initial police reports said the woman and children were crossing at Rockland Street when a car headed southbound plowed into them.

The mother and one child were pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The other children were rushed to Albert Einstein Medical Center in critical condition.
