A 36-year-old man was in critical condition after police say he was shot twice in the chest following a fight with his girlfriend in Harrowgate Tuesday night.

Police said the victim and his 39-year-old girlfriend were fighting inside a house on Schiller Street near H around 9 p.m. when a third person – possibly the girlfriend's son – got involved and shot him. He was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery and remained in critical condition late Tuesday.

The son of the man's girlfriend was stopped nearby and taken to the East Detective Division to speak with detectives. Police said they did not make an official determination about whether he was the shooter Tuesday night.
