One man, two banks robbed in one day

The same suspect robbed two banks in as many hours this afternoon, taking off with an undisclosed sum of cash after the second robbery, at the Wills Eye Hospital PNC Branch in Center City.

The suspect remains on the loose and is considered armed and dangerous by police. He is described as a medium-to-stocky white male in his 40s, about 5-feet-8 with salt-and-pepper hair and thin facial hair. During each incident, he presented a threatening note to the teller.

In the first robbery, at 12:15 p.m. in the Bank of America on Allegheny Avenue near Jasper Street, he wore a white baseball cap, gray or light-colored shirt with blue sleeves, dark cargo shorts and white sneakers.

In the second, at 2 p.m. in the PNC inside Wills Eye at Ninth and Walnut streets, he wore a red Phillies cap and T-shirt, khaki-colored cargo shorts and white sneakers. He was last seen in a parking lot near 8th and Sansom streets.

FBI Special Agent J.J. Klaver said photos from each incident leave no question that it was the same suspect. Anyone with information about his identity is asked to contact Philadelphia Police or the FBI at 215-418-4000.
