One dead, two critically injured in weekend shootings

Police are investigating three separate shootings from over the weekend that left one person dead and two others critically wounded, police said.

Police are investigating three separate shootings from over the weekend that left one person dead and two others critically wounded, police said.

The murder took place early Saturday in the Ogontz section of North Philadelphia. Police responded to North Opal Street near Nedro Avenue at about 1:15 a.m. for a report of a person with a gun. Officers found a man lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the chest.

He was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center and pronounced dead shortly thereafter. The victim has not been identified.

At about the same time, a 35-year-old man was shot four times on Dicks Avenue near 65th in Southwest Philadelphia. Police said the victim was shot twice in the arm, once in the left leg and once in the buttocks. He was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, listed in critical condition.

On Friday night, a 21-year-old man was shot near 61st and Columbia Avenue in West Philadelphia. The victim told officers he was with a friend in the area of 61st and Nassau Road standing outside his car when four men approached him and told him to "give up the car." The suspects then shot him and took his vehicle.

The victim suffered a gunshot wound to his left arm that went through his arm and and entered his chest area. He was rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and underwent surgery. He is listed in critical condition.

The suspects in that incident are described as four black males wearing dark hoodies.

No arrests were reported in any of the incidents.
