An out-of-control driver injured four people and killed himself on the streets of North Philadelphia this morning, police said.

Around 1:15 a.m., the 31-year-old motorist, whose name has not been released, sideswiped a vehicle on Erie Avenue near D Street in his 2011 Hyundai Sonata, police said. He fled that crash and went to Erie Avenue near L Street, where he hit three more cars, according to police.

The driver was taken from that scene by ambulance to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:46 a.m.

People in the four cars he hit were treated for minor injuries, police said. There is no word on what sparked the dangerous driving, including whether or not the driver was under the influence of intoxicants.
