N. Philly woman wounded in crossfire

A stray bullet wounded an innocent woman in North Philadelphia, police said.

A trio of punk gunmen fired 13 shots at each other about 6 tonight in North Philadelphia.

One of their bullets found an innocent bystander, a 42-year-old woman who was wounded in the hand while she talked with neighbors on 9th Street near Cambria, said Chief Inspector Scott Small. The woman was admitted to Temple University Hospital in stable condition, although it appeared that she might lose one of her fingertips, Small said.

The shooters fled the scene, apparently unharmed. It was unclear if they escaped on foot, Small said. Police found 9 mm, .40 caliber and .45 caliber shell casings at the scene, Small said. Investigators are hoping a surveillance camera from a nearby business recorded the shootout, he added.
