Police have arrested a Mantua man for allegedly gunning down another man in a West Philly playground on Memorial Day.

Eric McFarland, 24, of Reno Street near 39th, was charged with murder and related offenses for the death of Kenneth Williams, 24, of Aspen Street near 40th, police said. McFarland allegedly shot Williams in the head and back after an argument just before 1:30 a.m., police said.

McFarland is being held without bail pending a June 10 preliminary hearing, court records show. McFarland has two prior arrests - for aggravated assault in 2013 and rape in 2010, records show. But neither resulted in any felony convictions; he pled guilty in August 2010 to a misdemeanor corruption of minors charge and was sentenced to five years probation, records show.

Williams' murder was one of four on an especially violent Memorial Day in Philly. Police have reported no suspects in the other three cases.
