Marshals lock up 8 murder suspects

Members of the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force -- a super group of law enforcement types that involves the marshals, the Philadelphia Police Department, Pennsylvania State Police, Darby Township Police, Philly D.A.'s Office and the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole -- have arrested eight homicide suspects in the Philadelphia area since Feb. 2.

Jim Burke, the marshals' supervisory deputy, said the suspects included two accused murderers whose mugshots had recently been featured in the pages of the Daily News: Darryl Jones and Stanley Green.

Jones, who was charged with fatally shooting Mustafa Scruggs on Jan. 17, was arrested on Feb. 3 on the 5200 block of Sylvester Street. Investigators tracked him down based on a tip from Daily News readers, Burke said.
