Marijuana grow operation in Harrowgate busted after burglary call

Police responding to a call for a burglary in Harrowgate on Sunday discovered a marijuana grow operation when they arrived at the house.

When cops showed up to the house, on Sedgley Avenue near Kensington, they found the door open, bolt cutters on the ground and smelled marijuana coming from inside, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

In the house, police found eight pounds of weed, 16 marijuana plants, headlamps, generators and other equipment used in the grow operation, authorities said.

Arrested in connection with the grow house were 22-year-old Marcus Rolon, who on Monday was held on $2 million bail, and 39-year-old Carlos Rodriguez, who was held on $1.5 million bail. Both are charged with possession with intent to distribute, possession of an instrument of crime and related offenses.

A spokeswoman for the D.A.’s Office said both men will face bail-source hearings Jan. 28 to ensure that any bail money comes from legitimate sources.
