Police are looking for a man who they say violently assaulted and robbed a SEPTA passenger in an elevator at the Church Street stop on the Market-Frankford Line last month.

Around 9 p.m. July 2, according to police, the victim got onto an elevator on the westbound platform at Church Street in Frankford and was followed on by a man who pushed him into the corner of the elevator, grabbed him by the throat and went through his pockets, stealing his wallet and $500 cash. Cops said the violent robber then held the victim until the elevator returned to street level and took off in an unknown direction.

Police described the attacker as a white or Hispanic man about 6 feet tall who wore a black baseball cap, white T-shirt, black shorts, white ankle socks and black sneakers. SEPTA officials released a photo of the man on Thursday.

Tipsters should call police in the Northeast Detective Division at 215-686-3153, the police tip line at 215-686-8477 or text a tip to PPD TIP (773847).

We could take a page from the Taliban and just chop off (just one--for first offense) a hand of creatures like this.

the crime is out of control and SEPTA police are about useless in stopping or solving any crimes I moved out of the city 5 yrs ago and moved my company out of the city 3 yrs ago. statistics and numbers do not lie the city is not safe and police and law enforcement do not do anything at all to make it better I'm a racist person but there should be a fence around the city. I'm sure philadelphia ranks at the bottom of solving crimes as a major city I was a nutter fan but he and ramsey must go because they dont do enough

1 Corinthians 6:9,10 - Thieves will not enter the kingdom of God.

He may have thought he got away with it, but justice will be served either in this life or the next.

It's so sad when you victimized someone who can't defend themselves. My heart goes out to this victim and may God give him the justice he deserves.
