A man tried robbing a Sovereign Bank Branch in Chestnut Hill and left empty handed Tuesday morning. The FBI posted photos of the suspect online, and are asking for help from the public to identify him.

About 10:10 a.m., the man walked into the bank on Germantown Avenue near Bethlehem Pike, and handed a teller a threatening demand note, an FBI spokeswoman said.

The suspect is described as a black man who is about 30 years old and is about 5-feet-7 inches tall. He has a slim build, a dark complexion, a goatee and a moustache. He was wearing a grey hooded sweater, sunglasses and black gloves.

The man may have also robbed a National Penn Bank branch in Chestnut Hill on Jan. 30, and a Conestoga Bank branch in Glenside on Jan. 6, FBI officials said.

Tipsters are asked to call the Philadelphia Police tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477) or the FBI at 215-418-4000.
