Man shot, wounded in attempted armed robbery

A 28-year-old man was hospitalized Monday night after being shot during an attempted armed robbery inside of a Chinese takeout restaurant in North Philadelphia Monday night, police said.

Shots were fired around 8:45 p.m. inside the China Star restaurant on Germantown Avenue near Norris Street. The victim was wounded once in his left leg, police said. The man was taken to Temple University Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

Cops said nothing was stolen from the victim.

A store employee and one of the victim's friends were taken to the East Detective Division for interviews.

The shooters are described as two men who were both wearing blue jeans and black hats. One man was wearing a blue hooded sweater, the other was wearing a red hooded sweater, police said.

The only ballistic evidence that remained on the scene was a bullet - which was fired from a revolver - and traveled through the victim's leg before becoming lodged in one of the restaurant's walls, said Chief Inspector Scott Small.
