This post has been updated.

A 36-year-old man was shot to death outside a bar in South Philadelphia's Grays Ferry neighborhood late Monday night, and cops said the homicide was captured on surveillance video.

Police have identified the victim as Mathew Smith of the 3200 block of Wharton Street, Philadelphia.

Chief Inspector Scott Small said video from inside Big Fella's sports bar, at 33rd and Reed streets, shows the shooter and victim "having words" inside the bar before going outside. At the corner, another camera captured a brief scuffle between the men before one pulled a gun and fired five shots at the other, hitting him several times.

The victim dropped to the ground, Small said, and the shooter took off running northbound on 33rd Street. He's described as a tall man who wore a gray-striped suit and matching brimmed hat.

Smith was rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was pronounced dead at 11:18 p.m. Police received the initial call for the shooting just before 11 p.m., Small said.

Cops found five .380 shell casings at the scene and the victim's blood. Eight to 10 patrons who were in the bar at the time of the slaying left before police arrived, but detectives were interviewing the bartender early Tuesday morning.

Police remained at the scene investigating shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday.

There goes big mouth Small again. Way to keep an investigation close to the vest. Tells them about the video and 5 shots. Amazing how misguided fame gets in the way of real police work.

Amazing to me how people can just leave when they should stay and talk to police.
