Police nabbed a gunman after authorities say he shot and critically wounded another man inside a South Philadelphia grocery store early Wednesday night.

The victim, a 24-year-old, was inside 8 Brothers Food Market on Tasker Street near 27th around 4 p.m. when he was shot once in the abdomen, police said. He was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he remains in critical condition.

Police said officers were nearby when the shooting occurred and heard the shots, then spotted the gunman and chased him about three blocks to Newkirk Street near Reed, where they caught up with him and arrested him.

Police also recovered a gun they believe was used in the shooting.
