Man shot in both legs, hospitalized

This post has been updated.

A 22-year-old man was hospitalized after being shot on Franklin Place near 7th Street in North Philadelphia Thursday night.

Police said the man was shot once in each of his legs just after 6 p.m.

Chief Inspector Scott Small gave this account:

The man was in front of his girlfriend's house when the shooting took place, and ran inside bleeding afterward.

Bullets hit the front door and window of the home, and police found four shell casings on the scene. There were six children, adults and visitors inside the home at the time.

The family inside the house told police they are having an ongoing dispute with neighbors, and that may have been the reason behind the shooting.

Police Thursday night were unsure of the nature of the dispute.

The adults who were inside the home at the time of the shooting are being interviewed by police in the Central Detective Division.

The victim was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital, and police said he was in stable condition as of 7 p.m.

A description of the shooter was not immediately available, however police believe the victim knows his attacker.

No arrests were made.
