Man shot in W. Philly, in critical condition

A 21-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot in his back, left shoulder and leg in West Philadelphia Monday night.

Shots rang out on Cecil Street near Walnut about 10:05 p.m., police said.

The victim was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and was listed in critical condition as of 10:45 p.m.

Police were unsure of the shooter's motive, and Chief Inspector Scott Small said one witness was being interviewed by officials in the Southwest Detective Division.

The suspect was described as a dark-skinned black man, who was wearing a blue hooded sweater, grey sweatpants and white sneakers. He was last seen running south on 58th Street from Arch, police said.

Police were reviewing footage from nearby surveillance cameras to try gathering additional details on the shooting and the suspect.

No arrests were made.
