A 20-year-old man was hospitalized in stable condition after being shot in West Philadelphia Monday afternoon, police said.

The man was shot once in his upper right shoulder about 4:55 p.m. on Stewart Street near 56th and was taken by a private vehicle to Lankenau Hospital.

Police said the man was listed in stable condition as of 7:30 p.m.

The victim did not provide police with a description of the suspect and there were no witnesses, Chief Inspector Scott Small said.
