Man shot dead in N. Phila., suspect held

A 23-year-old man was shot and killed on Cumberland Street near 19th, in North Philadelphia, Wednesday night, police said.

The man was shot once in the head and chest, and was pronounced dead on the scene by medics at 11:23 p.m., police Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

A suspect was being taken to the homicide unit for questioning as police investigated the shooting scene, Small said.
