Man killed in double shooting in North Philadelphia

A 30-year-old man was killed in a double shooting in North Philadelphia Wednesday night, police said.

A 30-year-old man was killed in a double shooting in North Philadelphia Wednesday night, police said.

Cops were called to Cumberland Street near 17th around 8 p.m. and found the victim lying on the ground suffering a gunshot wound to the head, Chief Inspector Scott Small said. He was taken to Temple University Hospital and pronounced dead at 8:19 p.m.

A second victim from that shooting, a 19-year-old man, later arrived at Temple in a private car, Small said. That man was shot in the thigh and listed in stable condition.

Police found at least four spent shell casings at the scene, Small said. A camera at 17th and Cumberland likely captured the shooting, and Small said detectives were looking at surveillance video late Wednesday.

Small said preliminary information police have indicated that the shooting may have been motivated by an earlier argument that turned into a fight. No arrests had been made as of early Thursday morning.
