A man is in custody after a shoutout in South Philly, a police source said.

The incident began about 9 p.m. on 10th and Catharine streets, where the suspect, 29, stole a Dominos Pizza delivery car as it sat idling, police said.

Officers from the 17th District spotted the vehicle at 17th and Snyder streets and gave chase.

That pursuit ended at 22nd and Morris streets, where the officers approached the vehicle. At that point, details are scarce, the source said, but it's clear that the driver became erratic, and attempted to run down the officers.

It's believed at least two officers fired on the suspect as he sped away, crashing into three parked cars on 22nd Street.

That second pursuit ended at 22nd and Ellsworth streets, where the suspect was caught on foot after abandoning the vehicle, police said.

Officers at the scene noticed he had been shot once in his forearm, and the victim was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in stable condition.

Internal Affairs is investigating.
