Man hospitalized after West Philly shooting

A man who said he was shot in Southwest Philadelphia Friday night was hospitalized in critical condition.

A 23-year-old man walked into the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania with one bullet wound to his right side at about 10 p.m., police Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

The man said he was shot on 47th Street near Woodland Avenue, Small said, but police responded to the area and were unable to confirm if that was where the shooting took place.

“There was no crime scene, no ballistic evidence — no nothing,” Small said.

Information on possible suspects was not available Friday night, and no arrests were made.
