In the second homicide in about four hours Wednesday, police say a man was shot to death inside a house in the city's Olney section.

In the second homicide in about four hours Wednesday, police say a man was shot to death inside a house in the city's Olney section.

Police were called to a house on Mascher Street near Widener at 2:18 p.m. When officers arrived, they found the 38-year-old man shot once in the head inside a second-floor bedroom, police said. The man was pronounced dead there by medics at 2:26 p.m.

Police said they have not made an arrest or recovered a weapon in connection with the murder. The man, according to police statistics, is the 197th person killed in Philadelphia so far this year, compared with 269 as of this date last year.
