Man fatally shot in Strawberry Mansion

This post has been updated

A 22-year-old man was shot dead in Strawberry Mansion, police said.

Shots rang out on Cumberland Street near Napa just before 4:30 p.m. and the man was wounded at least twice in his chest, said Chief Inspector Scott Small.

After he was shot, the victim ran north on Napa Street and collapsed.

Police took the man to Temple University Hospital and he was pronounced dead at 4:47 p.m., police said.

There were no witnesses and a description of the suspect was not immediately available. Police were looking for surveillance footage and homicide detectives canvassed the area to interview neighbors.

The broad daylight shooting happened about four blocks away from the scene of a double shooting last week, which left two 13-year-old girls hospitalized and a 17-year-old boy facing two counts of attempted murder, among other charges.
