A 23-year-old man was pronounced dead behind a housing project after he was shot in South Philadelphia Monday night.
Around 10:20 p.m. the unidentified man was shot on Etting Terrace near Point Breeze Avenue, police said.
His body was found on a walkway behind a home, with bullet wounds in his stomach and abdomen. He was pronounced dead at the scene by medics at 10:32 p.m.
Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said it appeared as if the man was shot with two different guns. Police found shotgun and nine millimeter shell casings on the ground near the man’s body.
While police combed the neighborhood, they found a 35-year-old man who fit the description of the suspect, and may have been involved in the shooting.
“Right in plain view was a nine millimeter handgun that we believe he just threw down,” police Chief Inspector Scott Small said.
The man was taken in for questioning Monday night, and information on the circumstances surrounding the shooting were not immediately available.
