Pair questioned in fatal shooting in East Frankford

POSTED: Thursday, July 26, 2012, 11:38 PM

This post was updated at 8:45 a.m. Friday

A 20-year-old man died at Hahnemann University Hospital after being shot as he sat on a porch in East Frankford Thursday night, police said.

At around 10:29 p.m., the victim, identified Friday morning as Wali Patrick, was sitting on the porch of his house on Kinsey Street near Tackawanna when he was shot multiple times in his chest, police said.

Medics rushed Patrick to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:17 p.m.

As doctors were performing CPR on the dying victim, 24th District officers stopped two men in a car on Frankford Avenue near Orleans Street in Kensington in connection with the shooting of Patrick.

When police stopped the pair, they leaped from their car and took off running, Chief Inspector Scott Small said. Police chased them to Amber Street near Cambria - about four blocks away - and took them into custody.

A handgun was recovered and a witness positively identified the shooter afterward, police said.

The men, whose identities were not released, were being questioned by homicide detectives Friday morning.

Police said the shooting grew out of an unspecified argument.

It was second slaying this year on the block.

On May 7, Robert Sneed, 18, was shot dead in broad daylight. Police have arrested two young men in that killing.

Patrick's killing also was the city’s second shooting homicide within about two hours Thursday night.

Around 8:30 p.m., an unidentified man died after taking a shotgun blast to his face in West Philadelphia.

Most certainly the thugs that committed this second murder, most certainly have committed many, many, more in the city. The problem is trying to connect the dots in some of the other homicides.

A Council member has a App, that shows red dots on a map, of delinquent tax payers!!! How about one that shows the areas of frequent gun violence throughout the city, it would probably show a relative comparision!!!

The crimereports on the Philly police website is actually a separate website, using data provided by the local police department. You can use this for crime reports in many cities. It's from CrimeReports.com and there is an app for it.

Stop and Frisk. Removed the knives/guns before they are used, and arrest those carrying illegally. If the existing weapon laws were enforced, the murder rate would plummet.
