Man escapes serious injury after being shot in the head in Olney

A 28-year-old man is in stable condition after being shot in the head Wednesday night in Olney, police said.

A 28-year-old man is in stable condition after being shot in the head Wednesday night in Olney, police said.

The shooting happened around 9 p.m. on Marshall Street near Grange Avenue. Witnesses told police the victim was standing on the front porch of a house when a gunman wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt began firing, striking the victim once in the forehead, just above his left eye. He was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center, but was conscious and talking, police said.

Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said the victim does not live at the house where the shooting occured, but lives in the area. He said investigators found 13 shell casings, and that the motive is unknown at this time.

No other injuries were reported.

The suspect is descibed as a male, 25-30 years old, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
