Man dies after being shot 10 times in Hunting Park

Police are investigating a shooting that left a man dead Tuesday afternoon in the city's Hunting Park section.

The man, whose age and identity are unknown at this point, was at 6th and Bristol streets shortly before 2 p.m. when someone shot him ten times in the head, torso and arms, according to a police spokeswoman. Responding officers rushed him to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:02 p.m. No arrests have been made in the homicide.

A 25-year-old man was still clinging to life Tuesday afternoon after be was shot several times in North Philadelphia around 3 a.m., police said. The victim was on William Street near 12th when someone opened fire on him, wounding him twice in the face, once in the shoulder and once under his right arm, according to police. He was taken to Temple University Hospital by medics and remained there in critical condition later Tuesday. No arrests have been reported in that shooting.

Police were also investigating two other overnight shootings that sent men to area hospitals -- one at Wylie and Perkiomen streets in Francisville, in which a baby was reportedly narrowly missed by gunfire, and another at 40th and Poplar in West Philadelphia's Belmont section that left a man in critical condition.

In the Francisville shooting, police said a 21-year-old man was shot once in the arm and a 52-year-old man suffered a graze wound to the head shortly after 10 p.m. Monday. Both were taken to Hahnemann University Hospital.

Less than two hours before that, a 26-year-old man was dropped off at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania suffering gunshot wounds to his arms, buttocks and back, police said. A witness to the shooting, which happened at 40th and Poplar streets, drove him to the hospital, where he was listed in critical condition and taken immediately into surgery, police said.

Police have not reported arrests in either shooting.
