Man critically wounded in W. Philly shooting

A 20-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot in his abdomen on Lancaster Avenue near Fairmount Street in West Philadelphia Tuesday night, police said.

The man was wounded at about 10:25 p.m. Police took the victim to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and were combing the scene for evidence around 11 p.m.

A description of the suspect and information on the shooter's motive was not immediately available. Several witnesses were taken to speak with police in the Southwest Detective Division.

No arrests were made.
