A 20-year-old man is recovering from gunshot wounds to his stomach, back and forehead after being shot on Redfield Street near Lansdowne Avenue in the Overbrook section of West Philadelphia Tuesday night, police said.

The man was wounded around 9 p.m. and police responding to calls about gunshots in the area found the unidentified man lying on the ground, said Lt. John Walker of the Southwest Detective Division. Chief Inspector Scott Small said the man was shot near his house.

Police took the man to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was listed in critical condition.

A description of the suspect and information on the shooter’s motive was not immediately available.

A witness was taken to speak to police in the Southwest Detective Division, Small said, adding that five shell casings, the victims blood and his cell phone were found on the scene.
