Man critically wounded in Olney shooting

A man was shot and critically wounded in Olney Monday night, and a call from an off duty University of Pennsylvania police officer led cops to the suspects.

Around 10 p.m. medics found an unconscious man in a car on Roosevelt Boulevard near C Street.

The man, who police said may have been in his late 30s, was shot at least once in his right side and was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center. He was listed in critical condition as of 11 p.m.

Chief Inspector Scott Small said the man was shot on Rising Sun Avenue near Albanus Street, and fled the scene in his car. Police found seven 40 caliber shell casings on the scene.

An off duty University of Pennsylvania police officer who witnessed the shooting followed the suspects to Thelma Street near D Street in Feltonville and called police, Small said.

A man and two women were taken to speak with officials in the Northwest Detective Division, Small said, and police Monday night were preparing a warrant to search the house for the weapon.
