Man charged in strangulation murder of girlfriend

Police arrested a Folcroft man for the strangulation death of his girlfriend in Kensington.

Four months ago, Ryan Duboise told police he found his girlfriend dead in bed, naked and brutally beaten by an unknown killer.

His story didn't hold up long; police had been called before to quell domestic troubles between the couple. Before they could question him further, Duboise allegedly fled.

But Delaware County police picked him up three days later and jailed him for an October incident, in which he'd been charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and related offenses. And yesterday, Philly detectives officially charged him with killing girlfriend Monet Hall, 26, of Allegheny Avenue near F Street in Kensington.

Duboise, 25, of Crotzer Avenue near Shallcross in Folcroft, was charged with murder and possession of an instrument of crime for Hall's April 4 slaying. He faces an Aug. 20 preliminary hearing and is being held without bail in the Delaware County Prison, according to court records.

Police spokeswoman Officer Tanya Little said Hall was declared dead in her second-floor apartment at 7:33 a.m. on April 4. Autopsy results showed she died of strangulation and blunt force trauma, Little said.

Duboise played football briefly for Academy Park High School, from which he graduated in 2007, according to his Facebook page, on which Hall's friends posted multiple comments calling him a murderer. Court records show he's a repeat offender with prior arrests for assault, drug offenses, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, theft and other crimes.
