Lot attendant beaten with brick, robbed in Center City

A 30-year-old parking lot attendant is clinging to life after being beaten with a brick during a robbery in Center City Wednesday night, police said.

The incident unfolded about 7:50 p.m. in the EZ Park garage on Locust Street near 13th.

Witnesses told police they saw a black man in his 30s with dreadlocks attack the man and then rifle through his pockets once he was on the ground. Police said the man was wearing a black jacket.

A thin black woman with short hair who was wearing a green dress rummaged through the attendant's booth while the man went through the victim's pockets, police said. The two jumped into a black Old City taxi cab and fled east on Locust.

It was unclear what the suspects took from the victim, and cops found the brick that was used in the attack.

The victim was taken to the Jefferson University Hospital in extremely critical condition, and police remained on the scene Wednesday night.
