John Bailey, of Grays Ferry, was arrested after he allegedly stole from a CVS in Overbrook Park and assaulted an employee who confronted him outside the store on March 6, police said.

An anonymous tip led police in the Southwest Detective Division to identifying Bailey, 36, of Hollywood Street near Wharton, as the suspect.

Surveillance footage recorded Bailey fighting with the store employee after he stuffed merchandise into his coat and walked out of the store on City Avenue near Haverford Road.

The anonymous tipster contacted police on March 28 and Bailey was arrested on April 1, police said.

Bailey is charged with robbery, aggravated assault and additional offenses, police said. He’s being held in the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility on $10,000 bail, according to court documents.

He’s scheduled to appear in court on April 17. Bailey was last arrested in July of 2011 on charges of robbery, assault and terroristic threats, according to court documents.
