Man, 32, critically injured in Kingsessing shooting

A 32-year-old man was in critical condition Tuesday night after he was shot in the chest in Kingsessing, cops said.

Lt. John Walker of the Southwest Detective Division said police walking a foot beat in the area heard the shots ring out around 11:30 p.m. The man was found in the porch area of a house on 51st Street near Kingsessing Avenue. Five shots were fired, Walker said, and shell casings littered the street outside the house where the man was found.

Police were still trying to sort out the circumstances surrounding the shooting and determine what motivated it early Wednesday morning. Walker said no description of the shooter was given to police, but four witnesses were taken to Southwest Detectives to be interviewed.

The victim was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania by medics and listed in critical but stable condition.
