A 19-year-old man was shot and killed Wednesday night outside a North Philadelphia bar, police said.

The shooting happened at about 8:50 p.m. at the intersection of Germantown and Indiana avenues. When officers arrived on the scene, they found the victim, whose name was not released, with gunshot wounds to the head. He was taken to Temple University Hospital and pronounced dead at 9:53 p.m., police said.

Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said investigators found two shell casings next to the victim’s body, likely indicating that he was shot at close range. When police picked the victim up to take him to the hospital, a handgun fell out of his waistband, Small said. He added that the caliber of the handgun did not match the shell casings found at the scene.

Small also said police found two bicycles at the scene, one of which they believe the victim was riding when he shot. Investigators were reviewing private surveillance to see if it captured the incident.

Police did not release a description of the suspect or a possible motive.
