Police are hunting the two thugs who attacked an old man outside his South Philadelphia home and stole his food.

The assault happened at 5:12 a.m. on Moore Street near 15th, police said. The victim, 71, told police he was sitting on his front steps when he saw two men walking south on Mole Street toward Moore. One approached him, pushed him into a wall and pistol-whipped him while the other man acted as lookout, he said. The gunman stole the old man's black backpack, which held food, and both thugs then fled west on Moore and north on 16th Street, police said.

The victim was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was treated for head wounds.

The suspects are described as black men in their 20s, about 5-feet-8. Both wore white t shirts; the gunman wore black shorts, while the lookout was a slim man in white pants.
