In Philly gun violence today: Homicide in the NE, road-rage shooting in West Philly

A man was shot to death in front of a Northeast Philadelphia apartment complex this morning, and police said they have a suspect in custody in connection with the murder.

Cops said the man was outside the St. Ives apartment complex, on Riverside Drive near Woodhaven Road, at 11:38 a.m. when he was shot in the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:52 a.m. Police said they made an arrest in connection with the homicide and recovered the gun they believe was used, but the suspect has not been identified.

The victim, who is between 35 and 40 years old, also remained unidentified later Wednesday, and police did not report a motive.

In other gun violence news, a 34-year-old man walked into the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania just before 12:30 p.m. today with a gunshot wound to his left hand. Police said he was shot during a road-rage incident at 52nd and Race streets. The incident remains under investigation.
