Helmet-less motorcyclist thrown, killed, in collision with car

A Claymont, Del., motorcyclist died last night after he collided with a sedan in Wilmington.

George Troutman, 49, was thrown from his Harley Davidson after he entered Philadelphia Pike at Cauffiel Parkway and was hit by a 2009 Dodge Charger driven by a 17-year-old girl, Delaware State Police said. Troutman was not wearing a helmet.

Medics declared Troutman dead at the scene of the 8:10 p.m. accident. The other driver suffered minor injuries and was treated and released at Wilmington Hospital. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
