A pair of gunmen sprayed a West Philadelphia block with a hail of bullets early Friday evening, police said. One man was wounded.

Cops were called to Chancellor Street near 51st -- an area known for drug activity -- around 6 p.m. and found at least 14 shell casings fired from two different guns littering the street, Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

A 27-year-old man who had been wounded in the right foot during the shooting was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in a private car. He was in stable condition.

Small said police are unsure what motivated the shooting, and the victim told investigators that he doesn't know why he was shot. No cameras had been located in the area as of about 7:30 p.m., and the shooting remained under investigation.
