Girl, 3, grazed by stray bullet in West Oak Lane

A 3-year-old girl was sitting on the steps of her grandmother's house on Ridley Street near 20th in West Oak Lane when she was wounded by a stray bullet Friday evening, police said.

The girl's father and two other men were outside at the time of the shooting. A man approached them and fired at least nine shots while neighborhood children were playing nearby, said Chief Inspector Scott Small.

The girl was grazed in her right hand and was taken to the Albert Einstein Medical Center, where she was listed in stable condition as of 9:20 p.m.

Small said three surveillance cameras at John L. Kinsey Elementary school recorded the shooting, and at least four witnesses were being interviewed Friday night by officials in the Northwest Detective Division.

A detailed description of the shooter was not immediately available.
