Gather 'round, kids -- it's time for the daily crime roundup!

*A 39-year-old man was found riddled with bullets in Strawberry mansion early today. Police spokesman Lt. Frank Vanore said cops were called to Diamond Street near 31st at about 3:35 a.m. for a report of a shooting. The officers found David Eugene “McQueen” Cohen laying on Diamond Street with numerous gunshot wounds to his head and torso. Cohen, of Hilton Street near 19th, died at Temple University Hospital about a half-hour later. Vanore said police had no suspects or motives. Tipsters can call 215-686-3334 or -3335.

*A car crash in North Philly this morning left a motorist dead and his passenger critically injured. Witnesses told cops that a gray Cadillac slammed into a wall at Broad and Huntingdon streets at 12:46 a.m., police spokesman Lt. Frank Vanore said.
The 40-year-old driver, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene. His  female passenger was admitted to Temple University Hospital in critical condition with massive head trauma and injuries to her chest and abdomen, Vanore said.

*Police earlier today released video from surveillance cameras showing two robberies early Thursday.
In the first robbery, about 12 a.m., a man riding a silver bicycle targeted a 24-year-old Temple University student walking on Girard Avenue near 13th Street. The man shot the student in the stomach before taking off with the student’s iPhone. The student remained hospitalized yesterday in stable condition. Police described the suspect as a thin black male in his late teens or early 20s, with long sideburns.
In the other videotaped robbery, two young Asian males with handguns, wearing dark T-shirts, black baseball caps and black Converse sneakers, entered a 7-Eleven on 10th Street near Snyder Avenue just after 3 a.m. and demanded money. One of the men fired a bullet above the store clerk’s head, but the clerk was unharmed. The robbers got away with a substantial amount of Lottery money, police said.

*SEPTA will stage a trolley crash on its Green Line tomorrow to test its emergency-response capabilities. A mock crash involving a trolley, a work car and 30 “victims” will take place at 9 a.m. at the Green Line Tunnel entrance near 36th and Market streets.

This is why I'm in favor of the kind of loitering curfew that is being considered in New Jersey. Preferably during the summer months, May to September. 10pm-6AM. If a thug is standing on a corner or in front of a Chinese Store, or APPEARS suspicious (bulge in clothing, suspicious demeanor), the cops should have the right to a search.

Ladies and Gentilmen...let's review the crime problem in Killadelphia over just the last year...K? Let's look at Gov. Rendell, the State Parole Board, The Mayor, City Council, State Attorney General and remember the following small, partial list of State Parole Offenders who made the papers.... Besides Murchison and Wilson (The PIAZZA MURDERS) and Porter, Evans (Murderers), let's add Carrisquillo (Rapist), Shaw (Frankford Rapist), don't forget Burgess (Serial Killer and Rapist); Giddings, Cain, Warner (COP KILLERS); Wilson, Norman, Magee, Lassister, Hill, Trinsey, Wise, Latham, Bryant and the 4 out of the 5 gunmen who just recently murdered "Piggy" the mother of 4 children (All are Shoot-Out Artists and again were under State Parole "Supervision"). Why were they on the street and kept on the street? Money...to save money. State Budget Monies (specifically) that were spent on "No Bid" and about 60 million on other "Inappropiate" Contracts that went to Campiagn Contributors and friends of Governor Rendell. Why are so few Parole Violators being sent back to prison for serious offenses and even kept on the street while they have new open court cases...like Carrisquillo? Why are there so few State Parole Field Agents in Killadelphia? Why are 2,000 State Inmates being released each month? MONEY. The Mayor, City Council, State Legislature, State's Attorney General were all told about 18 months ago about this SCANDAL and they have done nothing to stop it. Studies...proposed legislation...it’s all more opium for the masses. Want to help? Encourage all the victims and surviving family members to sue the State. Ask our Mayor and City Council to sue the State and get our money back! Email Mike.Levy@usdoj.gov and ask him to investigate and prosecute "The Rendell Murders", he'll know what you are talking about 215-861-8200. The President's Comment Line = 1-202-456-1111. Remember State Parolees are responsible for our Murder and Crime Rates. Take action...make some calls.

It's true we are paroling too many guys who have no business being paroled. PA has to crack down. Philly is not an open air prison. These guys would never get parole or probation if they were going to Montgomery Co. There really should be no distinction. The city is supersaturated with high risk repeat violent felons.
